The Society has a programme of speakers on local history from September to March.
Upcoming talks
The next meeting is on October 14th September 2025 and is by Dr Pat Simpson, who will present A Pub Crawl Around Dunbar Harbour. Dr Simpson sent this introduction to her talk:
Over the years, there have been many inns, taverns and public houses around the Dunbar Harbour area, that no longer exist in their original capacity. I invite you to join me on a pub crawl spanning 200 years. Some of the former pubs stand today, but are private houses. Some were demolished when the streets near the Victoria Harbour were modernised. One has survived as a restaurant. I’ll talk about the Jersey Arms, the Old Ship Inn and the Royal Oak, to mention but a few. Join me to hear more about the pub scene around the harbour over time.
Meetings take place in Dunbar Town House on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 7pm (Speaker at 7.30pm).
