“Once upon a time, in Dunbar there was a Winterfield, a Springfield and a Summerfield, but no Autumnfield.  The Summerfield was owned by the Falls family, who fell on hard times.  The Summerfield was bought by farmer Charles Nelson, who built Summerfield House. Later, Alexander Scott, who had a distinguished military career, owned Summerfield House, whilst his mother lived nearby in a house known as Bonard. Nearby was a dairy farm, Summerfield Mains, owned by the Cowan family and then the Blair family, which eventually became what is locally known as the Tree Scheme. Charles Nelson and Alexander Scott were absolute characters! Come to Pat’s talk to learn more and learn about the Autumnfield conundrum”.
